Simon Fung

Dr. Simon Fung is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. He is a cornea and anterior segment surgeon with a focus on pediatric cornea and anterior eye disorders.  

Dr. Fung completed his medical training at the University of Oxford, England, followed by residency and fellowship at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, England. He then pursued a second fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada, where he developed his specialist knowledge and skills in pediatric cornea and anterior segment diseases.  

Dr. Fung is the recipient of the multiple international awards, scholarships and research grants. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and he has authored more than 30 peer reviewed publications in leading ophthalmology journals: including Ophthalmology and American Journal of Ophthalmology. His research is focused on the treatment of challenging ocular surface diseases.  

Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Fung is a leader in global ophthalmology. He chairs the American Academy of Ophthalmology YO International subcommittee and serves on both the American Academy and the European Society of Ophthalmology Young Ophthalmologists committees. In these roles, Dr. Fung helps to bring knowledge and skills to ophthalmologists around the world.
